US Counselor Chollet’s Travel to the United Arab Emirates


Counselor Chollet will first tour to the United Arab Emirates, January 8-10, as phase of an interagency delegation to participate in the first meeting of the Negev Forum Working Groups, the place he will co-chair the Regional Security Working Group and preserve consultations with representatives from the Governments of Bahrain, Egypt, Israel, Morocco, and the United Arab Emirates. Counselor Chollet will continue to Pristina, Kosovo, to meet with authorities officials, different political leaders, and civil society to talk about U.S. efforts to assist advance Kosovo’s and Euro-Atlantic integration, along with through the EU-facilitated Dialogue to gain a complete agreement on normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, established on mutual recognition.  On January 12, Counselor Chollet will proceed to Belgrade, Serbia, where he will talk about strength security, regional economic integration, and progress toward Serbia’s intention of EU accession with Serbian government leadership. He will also talk about Serbia’s position in strengthening regional peace and security and its persisted engagement with the EU-facilitated Dialogue to normalize members of the family with Kosovo.  Interagency Delegation to the United Arab Emirates  A senior U.S. Government delegation will travel to the United Arab Emirates to take part in the first assembly of the Negev Forum Working Groups on January 9-10, where they will accumulate with representatives from the Governments of Bahrain, Egypt, Israel, Morocco, and the United Arab Emirates to increase initiatives to encourage regional integration and cooperation.  The U.S. Global Water Coordinator for the Bureau of Resilience and Food Security Maura Barry, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Middle East Dana Stroul, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Diplomacy Laura Lochman, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Deputy Director for Infectious Diseases Dr. Jay Butler.  The six Working Groups will center of attention on the priorities set up at the March 2022 Negev Summit: Food Security and Water Technology; Clean Energy; Tourism; Health; Education and Coexistence; and Regional Security.
